Air India stun Mahindra 2-1; move to sixth place
Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) Air India continued their dominance over Mahindra United defeating them by the odd goal in three in the 10th round match of the National Football League at the Cooperage ground here today.
With this win, Air India moved up from eighth place to sixth, joining Dempo with 13 points, while the jeepmen remained on second position, one point behind East Bengal at 20 points.
The match started with Air India looking the more positive team and could have gone up in the 11th minute, but the shot taken by Santosh Koli went just wide.
Then, in the 17th minute, Soccor Velho had a golden chance to put his team ahead but his shot was well saved by Mahindra goalkeeper Sandip Nandy.
Mahindra then produced a good move down the right flank when Steven Dias passed the ball onto K Anees, who headed the ball down only to see it hit the post and go out of harm's way.
