47 IAS officers reshuffled, BC Gupta new Home Secretary
Chandigarh, Apr 6 (UNI) In a major reshuffle, the Punjab government today ordered fresh postings for 47 senior IAS officials with immediate effect, appointing Dr B C Gupta as the state's new Home Secretary and changing deputy commissioners of eleven districts.
While Mr B C Gupta has been appointed as Principal Secretary Home, relieving Mr P K Verma of the said charge, the eleven freshly appointed Deputy Commissioners included S R Ladhar (for Sangrur), Raminder Singh (Kapurthala), Ashok Kumar (Ludhiana), Anurag Verma (Jalandhar), Rakesh Kumar Verma (Patiala), Alok Shekhar (Ropar), Tejveer Singh (S A S Nagar), Arvinder Singh (Ferozepur), Hussan Lal (Mansa), V K Meena (Moga) and Rakhi Gupta Bhandari (Faridkot), according to an official notification issued here today.
Mr Tejveer Singh will be the first Deputy Commissioner of the newly carved S A S Nagar district. The official announcement of this new district would be made on the Baisakhi day.
Significantly, the state's Principal Secretary (School Education) Tejinder Kaur has been freshly posted as Principal Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs vice Mr B C Gupta.
Other Financial Commissioners and Principal Secretaries with new postings included P Ram (Technical Education), Vijay Kain (Labour and Employment), Ms Geetika Kalha (Tourism), Sundaram Krishna (Appeals-II), J R Kundal (Medical Education and Research) and Ms Kusumjit Sidhu (Water Supply and Sanitaion).
