22 turtles recovered

Alipurduar, Apr 6 (UNI) As many as 22 turtles were recovered from a house in a forest village at Dhantali under Kumargram block in Jalpaiguri district.

The Forest department officials recovered the turtles yesterday.

North Raidak range officer Bijon Kumar Nath said the turtles were captured for smuggling.

Four more tortoise shells were also recovered, he said.

The officials, however, could not nab the culprits.

The Alipurdur court ordered release of the turtles in Rasikbill lake near Alipurduar.
