12 held in AP capital for faking land documents

Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) Police today arrested 12 persons in separate cases and seized a huge quantity of fake rubber stamps, registered property documents and other incriminating materials from them.

Police here today said Gulam Subhani (45), Md Osman (43) K Nagesh (27), Syed Akber (40), Gulam Mahmood (44) and B Venkat Reddy (47) were arrested and 210 fake rubber stamps and 211 fake registered property documents seized.

In an another case, Maqbool, Akber, Mahmood and Venkat Reddy were arrested after a raid at Talla Kunta where they were preparing fake property registration documents.

They seized 135 fake rubber stamps and 200 fake documents.

Following Maqbool's confession, a raid was also conducted at Nacharam where one Osman was arrested. They seized 74 fake rubber stamps and documents from him.

On Osman's information, police arrested Nagesh who prepared fake rubber stamps at his shop located at Koti.

The modus operandi was Maqbool used to identify vacant property and later obtain Encumbrance Certificates (ECs) and (Certified Copies) from the Registrar offices through his contacts.

Using fake documents and rubber stamps, they used to cheat gullible customers by collecting huge amounts from them for sale or as token advance.

They also approached banks for pledging the documents for obtaining loans.
