Jammu, April 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who today filed his nomination from Bhaderwah constituency in Doda district, contested from the adjoining Inderwal seat in 1977 but even forfeited his security deposit then.

In 1977, Mr Azad was not a very senior leader but had managed the party ticket from Inderwal, sidelining the claim of sitting MLA Abdul Gani Goni.

However, in the anti-Indira wave that prevailed in the elections, he ended up miserably, forfeiting his security deposit. National Conference candidate Sheikh Ghulam Mohammed had won the seat.

From Bhaderwah, Congress candidate Bodh Raj had also lost his seat to the Janata Party's candidate Narain Das.

Mr Azad had contested Lok Sabha election from Maharashtra two times. In 1984, he won from Akola but in 1989, he was defeated by Rajabhau Thakre from Yavatmal.
