Ludhiana, Apr 5 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today registered a case under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act against Ludhiana Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-general) and six others including two Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) officals.

While the ADC, Ajmer Singh and the BPCL officals identified as Mukul Joshi and Rajiv Sharma, both Area Officers are absconding, the other four were arrested this evening, Bureau SSP Gurinder Singh Dhillon said today.

Those arrested were identified as Santokh Singh, forest range officer, Varinder Singh, assistant town planner and two petrol pump owners identified as Vishwanath Sharma and Kamal Kumar Sharma.

Mr Dhillon said the case was registered after investigations under sections 465, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and various clauses of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He said the No Objection Cetrificate (NOC) was given by the ADC after receiving the feasibility report from the BPCL officals, the assistant town planner and the forest range officer.

The Bureau offical said the feasibility report and the issuance of the NOC prompted the investigations as the two petrol pumps were shown as having been located on urban land while in reality these were on rural land. The location of the two pumps violated certain rules, he added without specifying the details.
