Jaipur, Apr 5 (UNI) The Rjasthan government is taking stringent steps to check infiltration and smuggling in the recently started Thar Express from Munabao in Barmer district to Khokrapar in Pakistan.

While replying to a query posed by legislator Madan Rathore in Vidhan Sabha, state home minister Gulab Chand Kataria said the passengers have to undergo immigration and customs checks at Munabao station.

Mr Kataria said only people with valid passports and visas are allowed entry into India. He informed the House that a 12 feet iron fencing has been put up in the area between Munabao station and Zero Line. Armed Border Security Force personnel patrol the fencing and the road on both sides on a gypsy and keep an eye on any suspicious activity in the area.

''Intelligence staff also keep a constant vigil to stop any kind of smuggling and infiltration at Munabao station. The passengers are also checked and registered at Jodhpur station,''the minister added.

Personnel from GRP and local police are manning a temporary police post at the station.
