Saddam denounces Iraq Interior Ministry

BAGHDAD, Apr 5: Saddam Hussein lashed out at Iraq's Interior Ministry just after his trial resumed today, accusing it of killing thousands of Iraqis.

''It's the side that kills thousands in the street and tortures them ...,'' he said, criticising a Shi'ite-run ministry accused by Sunni Arabs who were dominant under him of running death squads.

When the judge interrupted him, he said: ''If you're scared of the Interior Minister, he doesn't scare my dog.''
