Poll Process set in for 3 constituencies in first phase of poll

Pondicherry, Apr 5 (UNI) The poll process for the first phase in the Union Territory had been set in motion with the issue of notification today.

Two constituencies in Mahe region(Mahe and Palloor) and the lone Yanam constituency goes to poll on May three in the first phase in the Union Territory.

The last date for filing nominations is April 12 for both Mahe and Yanam regions. However, in view of the Vishu festival holidays in Mahe, the scrutiny of nominations for the region has been rescheduled for April 15, while scrutiny for Yanam constituency will take place on April 13.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 17 for Mahe region, while it is April 15 for Yanam.

The Congress is holding both Mahe and Palloor constituencies presently and an independent member represents Yanam constituency.

Pondicherry with 21 constituencies and Karaikal with Six, would go to polls on May eight in the second phase.
