NCW seeks report from four state govts on female foeticide
New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Taking cognizance of a media report which exposed the alleged involvement of about 100 doctors in female foeticide in four states, including Rajasthan, the National Commission for Women (NCW) today asked the state governments to initiate an inquiry into the matter.
The Commission also sought within ten days an action taken report from the state governments on the issue.
The NCW directed the governments to initiate action to cancel the registration of the guilty doctors and clinics and appoint nodal officer to monitor the action taken in the cases.
The media report had also claimed detention and manhandling of journalists conducting the sting operation in Jaipur.
The Commission directed the Rajasthan Chief Secretary to launch an inquiry into this alleged incident.
