Mercer HR to set up $50 million India centre

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Mercer HR Services today set foot in India with an investment of 50 million dollars spread over the next three years to set up its upcoming global operations centre in Noida.

The operations centre will be set up in partnership with software firm Patni Computers, leading IT Services company.

''The establishment of a global operations centre in India is an excellent extension of our integrated service capabilities as we further expand our global business,'' Mercer HR Services President Jess Miller said here.

Mercer selected Patni as a local partner in India because of its high-end back office and technical support services as well as its similar global footprints, he added.

Mercer, a unit of Marsh&McLennan Companies Inc. provides consultancy for retirement plans, administration, health and benefits and business process outsourcing.

Mr Miller said out of the proposed investment that will go into setting up the infrastructure, a significant part will go to Patni.

At present Patni has 70 employees working on Mercer's outsourcing business. ''The number is expected to go up to 1,500 in the next three years,'' Mercer Head of Global Operations Sumedh Mehta said.

Estimated at 600 million dollars, HR outsourcing is one of the fastest growing service categories worldwide.
