Man sentenced to death in 2002 murder case

Hamirpur, Apr 5 (UNI) The District Court here today sentenced a man to death, who was accused in a 2002 murder case and also imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on him.

According to prosecution, Rajjan alongwith four others had murdered Bhaiyadin in the Qutubpur village of this district on April 12, 2002. The five men also blinded Bhaiyadin's wife after gouging her eyes.

Taking into account available evidence, the District Judge held Rajjan guilty for the two crimes and sentenced him to death, besides imposing a penalty of Rs 50,000.

The DJ, however, acquitted the four other accused in want of evidence.
