Love story going great guns for Samresh, Anuja

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) For once, the cupid put aside his bow and arrows and tried his hands at pistol. And yet he was bang on target or how else shooters Samresh and Anuja would have come together to make India's golden couple -- the Jungs? Together the couple bagged six golds at the Commonwealth Games -- more than one fourth of the entire Indian contigent.

It was not love ate first sight. It was after firing bullets in the ranges alongside for years that they developed a liking for each other.

''I started shooting in 1991 while Samresh began in '94. But it was some years later that we started liking each other and finally in 2001 we got married,'' Anuja said and added, ''it was kind of love-cum-arrange marriage.

Although, Samresh won seven medals, including five golds at the Games, he cherishes his better half's exploits more than his own.

''She has to manage a lot -- home, kid and stuff. It has been a great struggle for her. I draw a lot of inspiration from her,'' said Samresh on the sidelines of a felicitation function for Melbourne Games' medal winners.

Samresh was also conferred his David Dickson award for the Best Athlete at the ceremony today. The marksman had missed the closing ceremony of the Games where IOA secretary general Randhir Singh took the award on his behalf.
