Lalu Prasad admitted as non-active member of SCBA

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Parsad, who is enrolled with state of Bihar Bar Council and is also a member of Patna High Court Bar Association, is a new addition to the membership of the Supreme Court Bar Association(SCBA).

Mr Prasad was admitted as non-active member of the SCBA last week, SCBA president P H Parekh told UNI today.

It may be noted here that none can be enrolled as member of any bar association unless he or she is enrolled with a state bar council as an advocate because the Bar council is a statutory body under the Advocates Act.

A mere law degree holder cannot practice as an advocate without being enrolled with the state bar council.

Mr Prasad joins other politicians such as union ministers Kapil Sibal, P Chidambaram, H R Bhardwaj and Ashwani Kumar, BJP leaders Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, BSP supremo Mayawati and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee who are also members of SCBA.
