JD(U) to elect national president in convention

Patna, Apr 5 (UNI) The national president of JD(U) would be elected in its two-day national convention commencing here from April 11.

National spokesman of JD(U) Shambhu Srivastav told mediapersons here today that the formal election to the post of the president would be held in the national convention. The draft resolution on various issues ranging from politics, social and economic would be passed in the convention.

He said a joint meeting of the state council and national councils would be held on April 12. The resolutions would be approved by the national council a day earlier.

Resolution to make provision for fifty per cent participation of women in Panchayat and local bodies would be passed.

He said nomination for the national president of the party would be filed on April 8 and 9 at the central office in New Delhi. While nomination could be filed at state office in Patna on April 10 between 1500 hrs and 1600 hrs. After scrutiny of the nomination papers, withdrawal could be made till 1800 hrs on the same day.

Citing the reason behind the filing of nominations in Patna on April 10, he said arrangements had been made as the central camp office of the party would begin to function in Patna from April 10 till the conclusion of the national convention of the party.
