Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 5 (UNI) Additional sessions judge P D Ambekar today granted interim anticipatory bails to former mayor, deputy mayor and six ex-corporators of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) against whom police have registered an offence for passing a resolution in the civic body to dereserve two plots of land.
While granting the interim anticipatory bails, the court directed the eight to report to the City-Chowk Police Station every Sunday, Monday and Thursday and not to leave the country.
The court also directed them to co-operate with the investigation officer during the investigations.
The court further said that if arrested by the police, all of them should be released on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 each. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 20.
The police had registered two separate offences against former AMC mayor Vimal Rajput and deputy mayor Prakash Nikalje, and six ex-corporators for their involvement in passing a resolution, lifting the reservations on two plots of land, one of which had been earmarked for a civic garden.
The police had registered offences against them on a complaint lodged by the AMC following a recent directive from the State Government in respect of two controversial resolutions dated January 19, 2003, adopted by the AMC that had lifted reservations on the two plots.
The six ex-corporators against whom offences have been registered include Sanjay Shirsath (Shiv Sena), who is also a member of the current House, Prof Sunil Magre, Ratankumar Pandagle, Anand Tandulwadikar, Abdul Rashid Abdul Sattar, and Radhakrishna Gaikwad.
