Each household in Asom has Congressman: Sachin

Tezpur, Apr 5 (UNI) Young Congress leader Sachin Pilot today urged the youth of Asom to assume a greater role for the development of the state.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Pilot said the country could progress rapidly if the youth take up a more active role in the matters of the state. He urged the youngsters to gear up for the development of the state.

In the state to campaign for the Congress, the young Parliamentarian exuded confidence that the party will retain power.

He said, '' Every household in Asom has at least one Congressman. We will definitely return to power here. '' He maintained that the insurgency problem in the state cannot be solved only through political dialogue. The emotional and humanitarian aspects involved must also be given due importance in the talk process, he added.

Mr Pilot came down heavily on the political parties, formed just prior to the elections. He questioned these parties' role during the interim period.

On secret killings in the state, the Congress leader alleged that both former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and Asom Gana Parishad president Brindabon Goswami were linked with the killings.
