Criminal charges brought against Ranbaxy (UK) ltd

Mumbai, Apr 05: UK's serious fraud office (SFO) will soon bring criminal offence charges against the Ranbaxy Laboratories' operations in the United Kingdom - Ranbaxy UK Limited (RUKL) - the company informed the BSE today.

Charges against RUKL relates to alleged anti-competitive conduct in connection with the supply of penicillin-based antibiotics between 1996 and 2000. Four other companies would also be charged, the company release said.

RUKL has, however, not yet been informed of the substance of the allegation against it, nor the evidence upon which they are based, therefore it is not in position to comment, the release said, adding that the company is not aware of any wrongdoing.

The current operation of RUKL, however, remains unaffected by these developments.
