CPI(M) activist murdered

Alappuzha, Kerala, Apr 5 (UNI) A Communist Party of India (Marxist) activist was hacked to death, allegedy by RSS workers, here in the early hours today.

The deceased was identified as Rajesh (24), a native of Nehrutrophy ward in the district, police said.

Political rivalry was said to be the reason behind the murder, police added.

According to police, a 15-member gang stormed into the house of the victim at 0400 hours and hacked him. Rajesh died at the hospital.

Following the incident, the CPI(M) called for a hartal in the area. Strong police pickets have posted in the area and the situation was now under control, sources added.
