Common man can avail video conferencing at phone call rates

Bangalore, Apr 5 (UNI) Common people can now avail video conferencing facility from a public kiosk, akin to the STD/ISD booths, thanks to an initiative from the 21st Century Information Technology Pvt Ltd.

The company today opened its first kiosk, located at the Legislators Home, under the brand name V-Darpan. The kiosk, to be manned 24 hours a day, would provide low cost teleconferencing at Rs three per minute, a company release here said.

The company aimed at setting up 800 V-Darpan Kiosks across the city, the release said, adding that those who receive the call should have similar facilities at their end.

The scheme was being introduced in technical collaboration with IQARA Enterprises of Britain.

The release said that if one such centre was set up at the Chief Minister's Office, grievances of poor farmers and other people could be solved through teleconferencing itself.
