Committee appointed to look into Crawford Market issue
Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Government has appointed a committee, headed by principal secretary (urban development), to probe irregularity in alloting licences for Crawford Market redevelopment.
Minister of State for Urban Development Rajesh Tope, in reply to a calling attention in the Council, said the Government will resend the redevelopment proposal if any violation of urban development guidelines was detected.
The market, which is also known as the Mahatma Phule market, was constructed in 1868 and some portions of it have been declared as heritage structures which have been excluded from the redevelopment plan.
