Cabinet clears additional compensation for Bhopal Gas victims

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The Union Cabinet at its meeting held here today approved the implementation of Supreme Court the disbursement of additional compensation for the Bhopal gas victims.

Briefing newspersons here Defence Minister Pranab Mukerjee said the Apex Court in its judgement dated July 19th, 2004 and October 26th, 2004 has directed to disburse pro-rata additional compensation to the Bhopal gas victims on in the ratio of 1:1 basis.

The Government has granted Rs 50 crores to meet this shortfall in meet the necessary shortfall in the resettlement.

He said all those gas victims who have been awarded compensation in their original claim cases will get a 1:1 pro-rata compensation, he added.
