Arunachal to host international rafting competition
Itanagar, Apr 5 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh will host the Austro-Asia Rafting Competition towards the end of the year, according to Kameng Angling Association president Fesom Sekong.
The Indian Rafting Federation (IRF) took the decision in a meeting held in Shimla recently.
Sekong, who took part in the 3rd Indian Rafting Competition in Himachal Pradesh as an official, informed that he had persuaded IRF to hold the event in the state which was immediately accepted.
Earlier, the event was proposed to be organised at Jammu and Kashmir.
He also highlighted about the major rivers of Arunachal Pradesh which have enough potential for white water rafting with turbulent water and rapid courses. Representatives from water rafting associations from various countries also attended the meeting.
Preliminary survey for organising the event would be conducted in September next, he informed.
