Varanasi/Lucknow, Apr 5 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police today arrested six terrorists, including those connected with the March 7 twin blasts in Varanasi.

SSP (STF) S K Bhagat told UNI that the arrests were made from different parts of the state. One of the accused hails from Allahabad.

''All of them are being subjected to intensive interrogation,'' he informed.

The STF has recovered 15 hand gernades of various sizes, 5 kgs of RDX and at least one Kalashnikov assault rifle from their possession.

The STF will brief the media in detail about the arrests later today.

The twin blasts at the 16th century Sankatmochan Temple and Cantonment Railway Station here had claimed at least 17 lives and wounded over 100 people.

Earlier, the police had released photographs of four persons including a woman suspect. However, the step proved to be faux pas on part of the police and the 'suspects' were found to be innocent.

Navniet Sikera was removed as SSP Varanasi in the aftermath of the incident.
