Farmers to hold black gram stocks
Coimbatore, Apr 4: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) today advised farmers to hold back black gram stocks till May for better price realisation.
In a press release here, TNAU's Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS) also said farmers had better chances for higher prices if imports from Burma were delayed.
The Domestic and Export Market Intelligence Cell (DEMIC) of CARDS had already forcast stable demand for black gram and good crop prospects for 2006-07 (Rabi).
Prices could be between Rs 25 and 27 in April and May and increase further in June and mid-July.
