'Tea Times Tales', 'Shahni' found best radio documentary, play
New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Hindi radio play 'Shahni' produced by the Delhi station of the All India Radio, and English documentary 'Tea Time Tales' produced by AIRs Central English Feature Unit (CEFU), DG: AIR today won the first prize of the Akashvani Annual Awards in their respective categories.
Tea Time Tales shared the prize with Malyalam 'Nilvilikalude Tharattu' of the Thiruvananthapuram radio station.
The second place in the radio play went to Photo Babu in Marathi broadcast by the Kolhapur station, while in the radio documentary, the second place was claimed by Yadva Satruvu (Telugu) produced by Visakhapatnam station of the All India Radio.
In the Special Documentary category, Jaladarpanam(Malyalam), produced by the Thiruvananthapuram station, was adjudged the best.
Bhji Parile Hela (Oriya), produced by Sambalpur station, has bagged the first prize in the category of programmes related to Family Welfare, while Abhprayas (Hindi) of Lucknow got the first prize in Youth Programmes(Yuvvani) category.
In the Innovative Programme category, Maro Parpancham (Telugu) of Kothagudem and Shabash Banty (Hindi) of Lucknow were joint winner of the first prize.
In the Musical Programmes category, Mahapurnima (Kannada), produced by Bangalore station was adjudged the best.
Chaitan Rao (Rajashthani) of Shimla got the first prize in the Choral Singing(Senior) category and Nenjukku (Tamil) of Chennai got this place in the Choral Singing (Junior) category.
In the category of programmes relating to Farm and Home, Lok Kachehry (Punjabi) of Jalandhar was adjudged the best.
The Akashvani Annual awards were instituted in 1974 to promote professional excellence and to bring out the best from staff working at various radio stations and installations.
Some of the award winning programmes under the scheme have also won international acclaim.
