Task Force in Mysore to check illegal petrol business
Mysore, Apr 4 (UNI) The Mysore district administration today decided to immediately form a task force to tackle illegal petrol business.
A meeting of top police officials, city petroleum dealers and the district administration, convened by Deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar, decided that a task force, headed by Assistant Director General of Police, would be formed to deal with the menace. About 400 illegal petrol dens were operating in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumar said similar task forces, headed by the Tahsildar and comprising circle inspector and food department members, would be formed in all taluks of the district.
The task forces would raid petroleum bunks and seize illegal petroleum products, besides initiating criminal proceedings against the offenders. He instructed the authorities to find out the source of chemicals and solvents used for adulterating petroleum products.
Addressing the meeting, District Petroleum Dealers Association President S K Dinesh suggested that the authorities choke the source of supply, instead of catching minor offenders. Chemicals worth Rs six crore were being smuggled into the city for adulteration.
