Scribe killed in UP road mishap, four injured

Varanasi/Lucknow, Apr 4 (UNI) A Journalist was killed and four other media personnel injured in a road mishap in the Lanka area of Varanasi this morning.

DIG (Varanasi) R N Yadav said Ghulam Khwaja, the Mughalsarai correspondent of Hindi daily 'Amar Ujala' was killed and four other employees of the same newspaper injured when the car they were travelling in hit a stationary truck in the Dafi area.

The injured have been admitted to the Sir Sunderlal Hospital at Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has expressed grief over the accident.

The CM also announced an assistance of Rs one lakh for the bereaved family, while sanctioning Rs 50,000 each to the four injured, official sources in the state capital said.

The funeral of Mr Khwaja was performed in Mughalsarai this evening.
