Bangalore, Apr 4 (UNI) Schneider Electric, an European giant in electrical distribution, industrial automation and building control, today launched its second phase of Global Technology Centre (GTC) deployment in India.

Located at Whitefield, near here, the GTC would provide an additional seating capacity of 250 for the 11.7 billion Euro company. The centre was not just another software development centre, but aimed at enhancing domain and product knowledge, the company said in a release here.

GTC CEO Jacques Letzelter said ''it is a success factor for complete product development capability that makes the difference with so many service companies that are not industry-centric.'' Schneider opened its GTC in 2004 and had groomed 3,000 engineers in various disciplines such as software product, embedded software, mechanical engineering, besides Electronics and Communication and electrical engineering. The new extension marked a significant step towards the company's commitment to India, the release said.

Dr Letzelter said the GTC would harness those talents who demonstrate ability in taking up challenges implied by new product development.
