SBI strike cripples money transaction in Nagaland
Kohima, Apr 4: The banking operation of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Nagaland came to a grinding halt since yesterday following the indefinite strike by its employees.
According to official sources, all the branches of the state have been locked and the proposal to facilitate the state government employees to disburse their salaries could not materialise due to stiff resistance.
A statement issued jointly by SBI Officers' Association and SBI Staff Association stated the strike would continue till a settlement to the pension issue was met.
The SBI regional office at Dimapur also remained close since yesterday.
The SBI is the leading bank in Nagaland and most of the government transactions, including the payment of salaries were done through SBI branches but following the strike, the state government employees are facing hardships.
