Rehabilate displaced people before taking up projects: CPI
Hyderabad, Apr 4 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) in Andhra Pradesh today sought rehabilitation of the displaced families under various irrigation projects being taken up by the state government under its ongoing 'Jala Yagnam' irrigation initiative.
In a letter to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, CPI Legislature Party leader Chada Venkata Reddy said the government should take steps for the execution of irrigation projects only after settling the problems of the displaced families.
Stating that negligence of the government was alone responsible for the locals halting the works of the Gundlakamma project in Prakasham district, he said the government should immediately resolve the problems of all the persons being displaced under different irrigation projects.
