RBI to issue Rs 500 notes with inset letter 'L'
Mumbai, Apr 4: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue bank notes in Rs 500 denomination with inset letter 'L' in both numbering panels of Mahatma Gandhi series-2005, with additional security features bearing the signature of Governor Dr Y V Reddy.
Except for the change in the inset letter, the design of these notes, to be issued now, is similar in all respects to the bank notes issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi series, with additional and new security features issued on October 21 last year.
All bank notes in the denomination of Rs 500 issued by the bank after 1987 will continue to be legal tender, a RBI release said.
