RBI, Centre to be approached on agri loans issue: Dandegaonkar
Mumbai, Apr 4 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister of State for Cooperation Jayprakash Dandegaonkar today said the issue of non-payment of loans to farmers by nationalised banks would be taken up with the Reserve Bank of India and the Centre .
Replying to the discussion, initiated by Ranjitsingh Mohite Patil (NCP) and others, Mr Dandegaonkar said the Government has received several complaints that few nationalised and cooperative banks in the state were refusing loans to farmers.
He said the State Government was committed to provide agricultural loans to farmers from the next kharif season at six per cent interest and the State is awaiting guidelines on the issue.
Participating in the discussion, Mr Yashwantrao Gadakh (Congress) said the Government should provide assistance to farmers. Families of farmers, who had committed suicide, did not even have enough money for their daughter's marriage, he said.
