Police seize explosives in Bihar

Sheikhpura, Apr 4 (UNI) Police today seized a cache of explosives from a house near Sheikhpura police line.

District Police Superintendent Shalin said acting on a tip off, they had raided one Rajaram Mahato's residence and detected 75 bags of amonium nitrate, 72 gelatine sticks, 80 detonators and two bags of fuse wire.

Extremist organisations use such substances to lay landmines and blow up bridges or buildings, Mr Shalin said.

Efforts were on to nab Mahato who had managed to escape, he added.
