Nitish grants Rs 10 lakh to DSP's family
Patna, Apr 4 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced Rs 10 lakh exgratia payment and Government service to one of the dependents of the bereaved family of slain Deputy Police Superintendent Akhileshwar Prasad who was killed by Maoists yesterday.
Mr Kumar informed the members of the State Assembly that the monthly salary of the slain DSP would be given to his widow.
He said the Director General of Police (DGP) had been directed to personally visit the aggrieved family.
He further added Mr Akhileswar Prasad acting on a tip-off had rushed to Majhwalian village under Karakat police station in Rohtas district to free an abducted child from the clutches of extremists.
In the encounter the DSP sustained serious bullet injuries in his spinal cord and lungs and died on way to Patna.
The Chief Minister said as the Government's helicopter was sent for repairing outside the state so it could not be used to bring the injured DSP to Patna.
Combing operation had been launched to nab the extremists, he added.
