New DGP calls for ensuring 'fearless' UP
Lucknow, Apr 4 (UNI) Less then 24 hours after being appointed the new Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police, 1973 batch IPS officer Bua Singh today directed the cops in the state to create a ''fearless'' society.
In a statement here the top cop said establishing the rule of law in UP does not mean being hostile to the general public.
The police needed to pursue a ''people friendly'' policy, which would a priority for me, he added.
The police on a priority basis needed to create a fearless state, where the woman can move on the streets without any fear, he added.
Mr Singh further said that stern action was essential against all criminals on the run and those cops who were caught indulging in 'corrupt acts' will be dealt with an iron hand.
Mr Singh, who visited many police offices here today, said that crime control should not only be expressed in terms of papery facts, but must be visible among the public.
The DGP also said that he will shortly travel to all zonal police offices in the state, to acquaint the cops there about his priorities.
