NALCO sets record in production and sales

Bhubaneswar, Apr 04 (UNI) National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the largest producer and exporter of alumina and aluminium in the country, has set a new records in production and sales during 2005-2006 The Company achieved highest ever metal production of 358,955 tonnes,compared to 338,483 tonnes in 2004-05. As regard to the Alumina hydrate production,it produced 15,90,000 tonnes during the year surpassing its previous record of 15,75,500 tonnes achieved in 2004-05.

NALCO's power plant also achieved record generation of 5678 million units against 5613 million units in the previous year.

On the marketing the company registered a highest ever domestic metal sale of 258,096 tones compared to 205,797 tonnes in 2004-05.

The Company, whose second phase expansion programmes at a cost of Rs 4091 crore, was in full swing, was exploring possibilities of joint ventures abroad and setting up alumina refinery and smelter Plant.
