Microsoft to reward code developers through security contest

Mumbai, Apr 4 (UNI) Microsoft India today announced an online contest - 'security shootout' to reward the secure code developers (for software programs), to begin on April 19.

Company's Director (customer and partner experience) Sanjiv Mathur said, ''The Microsoft security shootout is designed to provide developers with the opportunity to build and sharpen their skills to develop secure code, and addresses a critical industry need.'' The lucrative prizes for the winners, to be announced on June one, include a four-wheeler, laptops, pocket PCs and others, a release issued here said.

The top 500 participants will get security certification vouchers, which will help them hone their code development skills over a long term.

The contest is a part of Microsoft's ongoing security mobilisation effort, under which it works closely with partners and customers to promote software security.

Through this initiative, the company is also making a collection of security resources available to developers, such as webcasts, blogs, articles, white papers and books.
