Leopard carcass found, one arrested for killing tortoises
Hardwar, Apr 4 (UNI) The carcass of a leopard that bore bullet wounds was recovered from the Khanpur forest range of the district, while police here arrested one person for killing six tortoises.
The divisional forest officer (Hardwar division), S P Subudhi told UNI the post-mortem report had indicated that the leopard, which was found yesterday had been killed by a bullet. The forest officials are trying to nab the culprit, he added.
In another incident, the district police has arrested one person for killing six tortoises in the river Bann Ganga near Laksar.
However, forest circle officer, Dhananjay Prasad said a case had been registered against seven others under the Wild Life Act of India, 1972.
