Kohima, Apr 4 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Nagaland Assembly I Imkong today said he was not holding any office of profit as per the provisions of Salaries and Allowances Bill, 1992, which was amended in 1999 and 2005.

Addressing mediapersons in the assembly after the emergent session Mr Imkong, however, said the Opposition was demanding disqualification of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for holding the post of chairman of state Sports Council and Bamboo Mission.

He said, ''The Election Commission will not take any action till certain provisions of the article are enacted or amended in Parliament. However, as the Chief Minister is holding the office of profit, the Opposition had taken the matter as sub judice.'' On today's emergent session, Mr Imkong said the Congress had accepted the suggestions of Advocate General K N Balgopal in the assembly. ''Mr Balgopal has asked us to wait till a new legislation is passed in Parliament,'' he said.

On the resignation of BJP legislator Tiameren Aier, who was Nagaland Hotels Limited chairman, Mr Imkong said the new legislation in Parliament will decide his fate.
