Lankan leader meets Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Young parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi today had a high-profile visitor from Sri Lanka.

The visitor was former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is presently on a two-day official visit to India. Mr Wickremesinghe, who lost the last Presidential elections to Mahinda Rajapakse, is the Opposition leader.

After meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the Sri Lankan leader drove to the Tughlak Lane residence of Mr Gandhi this afternoon.

Mr Gandhi discussed the ongoing peace process and other matters relating to the island nation with Mr Wickremesinghe.

The meeting lasted about 15 minutes.
