K'taka HC dismisses official's appeal

Bangalore, Apr 4 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today dismissed an appeal filed by Karnataka Urban Areas Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director B Srinivasa Reddy, challenging a single judge's order declaring his appointment as illegal.

A Division Bench, comprising Mr Justices V Gopala Gowda and Jawaid Rahim, upheld the single judge's order while dismissing the appeal and directed the appellant to pay Rs 10,000 as costs.

Mr Reddy submitted that he was appointed Managing Director on August 31, 1998. When his appointment was challenged, the court had issued a stay order, on the strength of which he had continued in office, he contended.

However, the single judge had termed him an usurper of office and directed that he be ousted from office.
