IS/ISO 22000 certification launched
Kochi, Apr 4 (UNI) The IS/ISO 22000 Food Safety Mnagement System Certification of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) was launched here today.
Launching the certification, BIS Director-General S P Sharma said it had recently published IS/ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System - requirements for any organisation in the food chain which provided the framework of internationally harmonised requirements for the glogal approach that was needed.
He said it was important that the business community understood the importance of standardisation and certification which helped them in selling their products globally.
A major resulting benefit is that ISO 22000 will make it easier for organisations world wide to implement the Codex Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Point system for food hygiene in a harmonised way which does not vary with the country of food products concerned, Mr Sharma said UNI XR PMM AD/VS1943
