EC crack whip on AGP

Guwahati, Apr 04 (UNI) After Mr Pramod Mahajan, the Election Commission (EC) today cracked whip on the AGP on a similar offense for holding a press conference after the end of the electioneering time.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J B Prakash informed the newsmen that a complaint had been received and the EC had asked the District Magistrate of Kamrup to register a case against AGP president Brindabon Goswami and party spokesman Apruba Kumar Bhattacharya.

Reacting to that, AGP spokesman, Mr Bhattacharya, said the party had the highest regard for the EC and given credit for holding free and fair poll in the state but on the said day and said time neither was a press conference called nor was any of the two leaders present in Guwahati.

'' I was in Tinsukia and our president Goswami was in Tezpur.

Besides that it was not a press conference but a group of journalists came to our party office as usual in the afternoon and talked to some of our party colleagues, '' he said.

The CEO said the DM would inquire the matter and would file a report soon.
