Deputy Collector, bank manager convicted on bribe charge
Bhopal, Apr 4 (UNI) A Deputy Collector and a Branch Manager of a Regional Rural Bank in Madhya Pradesh were convicted by special courts for taking bribe and sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment.
According to Lokayukta sources, Deputy Collector R R Patke, who was posted as Land Acquisition Officer with National Hydropower Development Corporation at Khandwa, was caught red handed while taking bribe of Rs 6,000 from a farmer Laxmikant on November 27, 2003 for disposal of compensation settlement case.
On March 31,2006, the Special Court of Khandwa found him guilty on two counts and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment of two years each and fined him Rs 1,000 each.
R S Pahare, who was posted as branch manager of Seoni-Chhindwara RRB in Seoni, was caught redhanded taking bribe of Rs 1,000 for sanctioning loan. The challan was put up before the court in August, 2003.
The Special Court at Seoni found him guilty on two counts and, on March 23, 2006, sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for two years each and fine of Rs 2,000 each or, in default, to undergo imprisonment for another six months.
