Cyber treasury opened in MP
Bhopal, Apr 4 (UNI) A cyber treasury, probably the first of its kind in the country, has become operational in Madhya Pradesh to facilitate payment of taxes.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday dedicated to the people the E-Treasury at a function in the state capital.
Henceforth, the tax payers could pay their taxes through user-friendly website.
Mr Chouhan said Madhya Pradesh was using information technology in a big way in its onward march to become a developed state. He directed the officials to ensure payment of all dues to pensioners on the date of retirement itself.
Finance Minister Raghavji described the launch of e-treasury as a milestone in financial management.
Finance Secretary Anil Shrivastava said at present only State Bank of India had been associated with the E-Treasury and other banks would also be linked with it soon. Tax payment through credit cards was also under consideration, he added.
At the inaugural function, representative of an automobile dealer paid tax using the online facility.
