Circuit Bench: Hubli Bar Assn continues stir

Hubli, Apr 4 (UNI) Agitation by the members of the Hubli Bar Association, demanding that the circuit bench of the Karnataka High Court be set up between the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad, continued for the second day today.

Urging the Government not to start construction work of the circuit bench at the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) near Dharwad, they boycotted court proceedings and resorted to picketing in front of the Tahsildar's office.

They submitted a memorandum to the Government through the Tahsildar in this regard.

It may be recalled that the Government had decided to perform bhoomi pooja for construction of the bench at WALMI on April 11 after Dharwad Bar Association President B D Hiremath resorted to a fast-unto-death stir, protesting against the Government not earmarking funds for the bench in the current year's budget.
