C appoints former Judge as arbitrator for the Singhania family feud
New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court today appointed former Supreme Court Judge Justice S N Variava as the arbitrator in the Singhania family's dispute.
A bench comprising Justice H K Sema and Justice A R Lakshmanan, while allowing the appeal filed by Hari Shankar Singhania and others, requested Justice Variava to complete the arbitration proceedings within 6 months.
The Court however ruled that Justice Variava can seek extension if necessary.
The Court said that it was time that members of the Singhania family sank their differences and started living in peace.
The Supreme Court noted that everything was fine with the family till 1987, when the family members got equal share of the property but trouble started thereafter. The Court also added that litigating in the Court was not in the interest of the family.
