Azim Premji meets AP Chief Minister at Bge

Hyderabad, Apr 04 (UNI) Wipro Chairman Azim H Premji paid a courtesy call on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at Bangalore and sought land for his company's expansion plans in Andhra Pradesh.

The meeting, ysterday, was attended by AP IT Secretary, Ms K Ratna Prabha and Additional Secretary to CM, Mr M Pratap, Dr Reddy conveyed his appreciation of Mr Premji for outstanding contribution to the growth of IT in particular, the country's socio-economic development and for WIPRO being in third place with an export turnover of Rs 5,426 crore, among India's top 20 IT Software Services in India during 2004-05.

Mr Premji lauded the Chief Minister for his foresight to make Andhra Pradesh a knowledge hub and pro-active and investor friendly initiatives.

With regard to WIPRO's plans for expansion, Mr Premji said WIPRO would shortly develop campuses in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. WIPRO had expansion plans in Andhra Pradesh and wanted additional area of 300 acre in Hyderabad and 50 acre at Visakahapatnam. WIPRO proposed to invest Rs 750 crore with projected employment of 15,000 in Hyderabad and investment of Rs 200 crore with projected employment of 13,500 in Visakhapatnam.

Mr Premji requested Dr Reddy to provide suitable land.
