ACB arrest Assistant Engineer in AP

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (UNI) An Assistant Engineer of the Irrigation and Command Development department at Adilabad was caught red handed in his office by the sleuths of the Ant-Corruption Bureau (ACB) when he accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000 for showing an official favour from a person today.

The tainted amount was recovered from Gajjela Narayana (48), who was arrested, a release from the ACB here said.

In another case, Special judge for SPE and ACB cases, Vijayawada, has convicted Ms Teharunnisa Begum, senior assistant and S K Subhani, attender working in the office of the Urban Land Ceiling Guntur recently.

The judge sentenced Tehrunnisa Begum to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and slapped a fine of Rs 2,500 under each count and in default to suffer simple imprisonment for three months.

Both the sentences were ordered to run concurrently. The attender Subhani was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and a fine of Rs 1,000 and in default to undergo simple imprisonment for three months.

The Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad has convicted N Parameswar, former Divisional Accounts Officer (Works), office of the executive engineer (PH) division Nizamabad district and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 and in default to suffer three months simple imprisonment for the offence under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the release added.
